FLEDGED project addresses an innovative direct synthesis reactor concept, improving the dehydration with an in-situ adsorption.
A fixed-bed tubular reactor with catalyst and water sorbent performs syngas conversion while removing the produced water from the gas product. Thanks to water sorption, thermodynamic limit of the reaction is removed and a higher DME yield in obtained.
Peliminary experimental tests showed a high flexibility of this sorption enhanced DME synthesis (SEDMES) unit on the feed gas composition. The combination of the flexible sorption enhanced gasification unit with this SEDMES generates a process which appears highly suitable to support a Power-to-Liquid process when renewable hydrogen from intermittent renewables is provided to the plant.
