ICB-CSIC Bubbling Fluidized Bed facility is in operation

The performance of up to six different biomasses in sorption enhanced gasification (SEG) conditions is being studied in the Bubbling Fluidized Bed (BFB) facility installed at ICB-CSIC facilities.

This reactor operates in batch mode and it is electrically heated, being able to treat between 3 kg/h and 30 kg/h of biomass, which corresponds to a thermal input of 10-170 kWth (LHV-based) depending of the biomass used. Different gasification temperatures, steam flowrate and sorbent to biomass ratios are going to be tested in this facility, which will provide valuable information for the tests at a higher scale performed in FLEDGED.
